Chegaga Aventure organises private trekking tour in Sahara desert. We start our journey from Tagounit, heading towards ENKAILHA and FOUM LARJAM where lays, along 4km of the foothills of Djbel Bani, ancient tombs and portugueese ruins, and some caves. Overnight in the palmeraie.
The caravan continues its way towards Rass Enkhla, siding M’hamid, an opportunity to visit many Kasbahs of the ancient village where the guardians of the palmeraie still live.
The desert opens its arms to us, Ergs and Regs embrace us one after another in the middle of Tamarisk. We spot the chain of Kraab near the Algerian border. We set the bivouac for the night just near Sidi Naji, A pilgrimage site for the Sahraoui women who wish to get married.
We visit the ruins of Ksar Bousnina, then cross the virgin desert before arriving to the grandiose dunes of Zahar to admire the magnificent sunset.
We profit from the beautiful morning to appreciate the wonderful scenery Erg Smar has to offer, before continuing our way until lunch time, we will have it under the shadows of the Tamarisk. In the the evening, we will cross the big Reg of Dzira, known for its plain soil.
We head towards the Chegaga dunes, the largest gathering of dunes in the region. With dunes of over 300m of height, one can dominate the surrounding sea sand. We set the bivouac in the middle of theses gigantic dunes.
We depart towards Oum Laalag for lunch, a permanent water spring in the middle of nowhere with a freshness that relieves the souls.
Along the rocky road, the caravan continues its march.
Once populated with ostriches, we reach the dry river “Oued” that kept the name of its inhabitants (Naam = Ostriches).
